Editorial policy
Select News Chronicle aims to explain news publishing clearly and fairly. We make our reasoning visible, distinguish fact from interpretation and correct errors when we find them.
Accuracy and clarity
We check factual statements against suitable material before publication and take care with dates, terminology and attribution. Articles should explain what is known, avoid overstating what follows from an example and make uncertainty clear when it matters.
Independence and corrections
Editorial decisions are made to serve readers and the subject of an article, not a partner or advertiser. If a factual error is identified, we review it and correct the article as appropriate, making a clear note when the change materially affects its meaning.
Partner material and illustrations
Any paid, sponsored or partner material is clearly labelled so readers can tell it apart from independent editorial work. Some illustrations may be generated with artificial intelligence; where applicable, they are identified, and illustrations are not presented as documentary evidence.
News has a form as well as a story
The format, route and reading moment all affect what we notice. We look at those choices with curiosity and care.
